Population Statistics
Australia is currently in Stage Four of the Demographic Transition Model. The birth and death rates are both low due to extreme health and sanitation improvements as well as reliable sources for food. However, the Natural Increase Rate is extremely low, and well below replacement level (2.2-2.4) at only 0.7. Despite this, Australia continues to have a stable, but low, population growth annually. The country is beginning to show signs of the possible Stage 5 due to the Total Fertility Rate falling significantly below 2 at only 1.77, this may cause economic hardships for the Developed Country.
